![]() ![]() These races feature throwback rides that are not exactly rally cars from 2020. Not only do you have these great locales, but you’ll also be doing some retro/legacy races. The title features locations from crazy spots all over the world. I was sitting there just playing the game realizing that I wasn’t having any cars that were too floaty or were paperweights. For my money, it seems like the cars have a proper weight and react properly to the environment around it. I’m guessing that they’re better than previous games in the series, so if you played this game years ago and didn’t care for it, I’d recommend jumping back in. Driving the cars in this game takes some getting used to. Winning races means more money, more unlocked events, better morale and much more. ![]() You’ll be balancing your money, your team (like morale), the objectives, and more. Aside from customizing the car and how it drives, the game expects more of you. You’ll find that there are settings such as anti-lock brakes on or off and traction control. They’ll extend newer, better cars to you, enabling you to win in those more difficult competitions as the game progresses.įurthermore, this game has a lot of little tweaks that let you experience the drive the way you would in real life. All the while, you’ll be climbing the ranks by giving better car companies good impressions. You’ll find that the further you go along, the other racers and their cars increase in difficulty and intelligence. It pits you against others who are on par or lesser than the car you’re driving. You’ll jump into a junior league competition in the beginning. Well, the game doesn’t just throw you into hot and heavy, intense races. This franchise releases year after year with improvements, updates, and changes. If you’re into games like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsports, then you’ll be very at home with the WRC series. That means if you are only into arcade racers, then this title is probably going to be way too technical for you. I feel like this goes without saying, but WRC 9 is a rally racing simulation. If they can’t hear the passenger over the car, they just turn up their speaker. I’m relatively certain there’s a speaker in the driver’s ear to hear what the passenger is saying. I thought it was a racing sim, I’m pretty certain they don’t just talk to one another. I wish we could turn him up individually. The only thing that was a bummer was the volume of the driver in the passenger seat. By playing with my surround sound on, I noticed the different bits. There is a bit of thunder due to weather elements. The sound of the car are loud, as they should be. Further, it changes the world around you by having water build up in certain areas. The rain pouring down looks great on your windshield, especially with the clouds in the distance. This may not seem like a thing to bring up in the visuals section, but I disagree. Some of which have different weather involved in the track. There are lots of beautiful locales that you’ll visit. I wonder what it will look like on PS5, although that’s in the future. Just as fellow soulslike The Surge used near-future tech and robots to enliven things, Hellpoint also makes use of its far-flung sci-fi premise to base a novel adventure on. Yes, all of the core elements are basically identical - the player wakes up in a ruined facility surrounded by clumsy, distracted zombies, then gradually fights their way through area after area until they’re squaring off with corporeal facets of elder gods. That’s not to say that Hellpoint doesn’t have its own identity or a few gameplay tweaks on the formula. Their work is so utterly faithful to the source material that even the menus look eerily familiar to those who’ve spent time in Lordran or Anor Londo. You need to explore the land to find items. The Art Of SurvivalĪs well as the whole water thing, Breakwaters is pretty stacked with things that you have to do. I think this is a very cool gameplay mechanic and one I am excited to spend some real time with. There are many treasures hidden in the water and this is a way that you can get in there and explore it. ![]() You can make invisible walls to keep waves at bay and you can shape water in many clever ways. For example, you can throw one in the middle of an ocean and it will create this big sort of vacuum where the water disappears and you can walk around and explore. I do not mean build things, but change the way it acts. You can get these crystals that you can use to shape water the way you want it. Form huge oceans, lakes, and crashing waves, water is very interesting in this game. The main thing I want to talk about in terms of the gameplay that Breakwaters has is the way it deals with water. I am hoping that when the game is finished it is fleshed out so we can see what these things are and where they come from. There are smaller enemies too, golems that you will have to deal with too. These are these hulking beasts that emerge from the water and only have destruction on their mind.
